چکیده
Selenium (Se) has been reported to mitigate the harmful effects of salt stress on plants; however, internal mechanisms remain unknown. Here, Se supplementation tomato plants under were investigated. The biomass, relative electrical conductivity (REC), water content (RWC), photosynthetic parameter, inorganic ion contents, malondialdehyde (MDA), soluble sugar and proline as well regulation plant hormones application in investigated after exposure treatments. Exogenous improved photosynthesis use efficiency (WUE) stress, thereby promoting growth stress. also maintained K+ Na+ homeostasis, reduced REC, decreased MDA, H2O2 O2•? mitigated oxidative damage caused by In addition, exogenous increased salicylic acid (SA) leaves roots via up-regulating PAL or ICS pathways involved SA biosynthesis. After pre-treatment with inhibitor 1-aminobenzotriazole, decreased, was weakened, REC increased, indicating that alleviating role abolished. Our results clarified roles its tolerance critical involvement this process. study abiotic will give a more theoretical foundation for using agricultural production enhance crop yield adversity stresses.

Induced salinity tolerance and altered ion storage factor in Hordeum vulgare plants upon salicylic-acid priming
AbstractThis study was undertaken to better understand the probable mechanisms of salt stress tolerance induced by seed priming of salicylic acid (SA) in barley. The barley seeds were pre-soaked by SA or water and then sown under different saline watering regimes including 0.62 (tapwater), 5, 10 and 15 dS m-1 in petri dishes and trend of water absorbing, seedling growth, germination rate and pe...
متن کاملInvolvement of SlSOS2 in tomato salt tolerance
The Ca(2+)-dependent SOS pathway has emerged as a key mechanism in the homeostasis of Na(+) and K(+) under saline conditions. We recently identified and functionally characterized by complementation studies in yeast and Arabidopsis the gene encoding the calcineurin-interacting protein kinase of the SOS pathway in tomato, SlSOS2.(1) We also show evidences on the biotechnological potential of SlS...
متن کاملThe Roles of Selenium in Protecting Lemon Balm against Salt Stress. Ghader Habibi* and Somaie Sarvary
Plant metabolism and productivity is influenced adversely by salinity. Exogenous selenium (Se), applied as sodium selenate in biofortification programmes, has been found effective in alleviating the salt induced damage in plants. The study was conducted in order to determine the effects of exogenous Se supply (10 μM) on the resistance of lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.) plants to salt stress...
متن کاملMolecular and biochemical protective roles of sodium nitroprusside in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) under salt stress
Salinity stresses act as inhibitor factors of plant growth. They can change the physiological characteristics and limit the production of crops. Sodium nitroprusside (SNP) is a stable free radical which use as a signalling molecule in plants and participates in various plant’s physiological, biochemical and molecular processes and also in plant’s responses to environmental stresses. We investig...
متن کاملRole of salicylic acid pre-treatment on the acclimation of tomato plants to salt- and osmotic stress
The alleviation of oxidative damage and increased resistance to salt stress and to non-ionic osmotic stress induced by 100 mM NaCl or 100 mOsm polyethylene glycol (PEG) treatments, respectively, often correlate with a more efficient antioxidative defence systems and detoxification mechanisms. Pre-treatment of plants with salicylic acid (SA) enhanced antioxidant enzyme activities in concentratio...
